Okay, so my husband and I just got memorial tattoos for our beloved American Pit Bull Terrier, Brooklyn, who was basically murdered by my mother-in-law a few weeks ago. I know some people think we are crazy, but he really meant that much to us. He was our fur-baby! We will always miss him, we will always love him, and he will always be in our hearts and in our minds. And, we decided we wanted him to always be on our skin as well! ; )
Here’s my husband’s. He got his on the side of his right calf (sp?)…

And here’s mine. I got mine on the top of my back, just under my neck…

So, anyway, we got these tattoos on my husbands birthday, the day before yesterday (3-27-09), so in the pictures (which were taken yesterday on my cell) don’t look that great. Obviously, they are healing right now, but we are extremely happy with them! : ) Now, I already had 1 tattoo before this one (I have 2 now), but I got my 1st tattoo over 3 years ago! And, my husband already had 2 before this one (he has 3 now), but his most recent tattoo (besides the tattoos we just got, obviously) was over 2 years ago. So, my point is, while we should know what to do, seeing as how we have both been through this before, we really just forgot! lol! So, with that being said, my questions are, 1- Is it okay to wash our tattoos with Dove moisturizing body wash? It’s supposed to very very gentle, it has no color and it only has a light, fresh smell to it. And if not, what would you recommend? And 2- Is it okay to just use Vaseline on our tattoos, or should we go out and buy the Lubriderm lotion that our tattoo artists recommended? Or, is there anything else you would recommend?
Oh! Also, as I already mentioned, my tattoo is at the top of my back, just below my neck. I have pretty long hair (it goes to about the middle of my back), and I rarely wear my hair up. I have however, been wearing my hair up since I got my tattoo so my hair won’t get in my tattoo. I am worried about getting a shower though. I am about to get a shower after I get some answers on here, so I wanted to know if it’s okay for my hair to touch my tattoo while I’m in the shower. Because I don’t see any way around that. I just want to take care of this tattoo as much as I can because it means so much to me!
-Thanks! : )
Our tattoo artists recommend that we use a soap that is non-scented and has no color, and then use either tattoo goo or Lubriderm lotion (non-scented with no color as well). The reason I asked this question though, is because I have heard so many different things from so many different people that has gotten tattoos. And as I said before, it has been so long since my husband and I got our first tattoos, that we don’t really remember what exactly we did.
I think we are going to try to orange Dial soap and the A&D, and see how that works. Thanks so much for the answers everyone! : )
I am now the proud owner of two Agamids; Australian striped tails (I think), as of today.. They are my first Herps and I need a little advice in order to take care of them as they are quite sickly. I gave them both about 1/4 cc Repcal and chicken baby food mixed with water, the male ate a cricket or two, but the female is very reluctant to take any nourishment. They are both just skin and bone.I have them in a 15 gallon terrarium with ‘play’ sand and a clip on ‘work’ light with a 60 watt bulb. How close should I position the bulb to the top of the enclosure for maximum effectiveness? Also, how many crickets should they eat weekly and is it okay to place succulent plants and/or cactus in their environment. These wild caught animals are so beautiful, I want to take care of them as best I can.
I’ve had my Leo about 2 weeks now. He’s still a baby, basically. 5 inches. Latest problem… Shedding.
He’s barely started, it looks like. The skin is just peeling away in a big piece, like a sunburn. Which I assume is correct. It looks like he knows what he’s doing. Now that it’s getting dark, he’s even coming out and looking around.
Do I continue regular care, or let him be? Every night at this time, I take him out of his regular tank and put him in the feeding tank because the crickets can hide and will just die in his big tank. He usually eats about 5 before kind of telling me he’s done by crawling on the side of the feeding tank.
Should I try to pick him up, or should I neglect feeding until he’s done shedding? Is there any special care I should be giving him? Misting… anything?
Problem with it is.. He’s already touchy. I don’t want to make him angrier in his current state. He barely lets me pick him up as it is, though he’s getting used to feeding time. I dropped in one cricket and he got it, but the skin he’s shedding is pissing him off. He keeps kicking at it with his feet.
As for the humid hide. He won’t go in it. He hates it. It’s appropriately sized, with a good size hole. I have a folded paper towel in it (damp of course) to promote the humidity inside.. But he just won’t go in it.
He has advanced skin cancer and numerous other infections.. Unfortunately, the Dr.s can do no more for him and he has been placed in palliative care, he will be brought home to die.. I am having a baby in 4 weeks time and I live 4 hours away. I am so worried about not being there with him and my family when he passes away. Any idea how long he might have left? I am hoping he will still be around when the baby is born. If not I will have to make a long journey either heavily pregnant or with a newborn child.
I made a care sheet for caring for tree frogs (particularly gray and green tree frogs) and I would like to get some feed back on it. This is the version with out the breeding part. Here it is.
A tree frog is an excellent choice! most common ones are gray tree frogs, and green tree frogs, and red eyed tree frogs are just awesome. Should you decide to get a tree frog, here is an easy way to set up your tank.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
-For 1 frog, a 5 gallon tank, 2-4 frogs 10-15 gallon tank, 5 frogs a 20 gallon tank, and then just add 5 gallons for every additional 1-2 frogs
-You will need some rocks and dirt to make a “shore”
-Sticks
-Crickets, fruit flies, and any insect besides beetles or ants. crickets can be bought at petco/petsmart for 10-12 cents a cricket depending on size. (size of cricket depends on frog size, they can stomach some pretty big prey, but the width of the prey shouldn’t be bigger then the space between their eyes.)
-spray bottle, You will need to mist them/it often since humidity is vital.
THE SET UP:
1. First, take your tank and fill it up with water. The water shouldn’t be any higher then half the frogs height. It is ok to go a little over board, but remember, young tree frogs can drown.
2. Now using rocks and dirt, make a shore for the frogs to come out of the water, and for the crickets to walk on so the frogs can hunt them. (If you are not hand feeding them)
3. Then just add some sticks for them to climb on. (They are called tree frogs for a reason.) Also, a little place for them to hide in is always good, and fake/real plants are great, however real plants will require more maintenance. Don’t forget a cover to the tank with a lockable screen, or just put something heavy on it.
4. Your pretty much done now. You don’t NEED a UV light, but I always have one on during the day for my gray tree frogs because I think it makes the habitat look cool. Most frogs are comfortable at room temperature.
CARING FOR THEM:
-Remember to mist them daily, but it is not vital if you have water in the tank, as they drink through their skin so misting them is like giving them something to drink, but it still important for maintaining humidity, and I HIGHLY SUGGEST you add AT LEAST a water dish.
-For the younger ones, I think it is best to hand feeder them crickets, young frogs suck at cricket catching but they will also keep on attempting to ambush any prey that moves until they get the whole predator thing down. They won’t attack prey if it doesn’t move. A baby tree frog will average 1-2 small crickets a day. But until they are big enough for large crickets, You might end up feeding them up to 5 crickets a day! However They will be fine with 2-3. You should be spending about 15 crickets a week on each frog.
-Wash your hands before (ESPECIALLY BEFORE) and after handling. And don’t handle them often, since your bodies natural oils can be harmful to them.
-I Once had 6 in one tank once (eventually donated 3 since crickets were getting expensive) and I cleaned their tank every month. So I would figure If you have 1 tree frog, clean the tank every 6 months. I like to completely replace everything in the tank (except rocks, and this really good stick i found) but cleaning the walls, and removing feces, and replacing/adding substrate will work just fine.
AND NOW YOUR DONE!!!
Enjoy the tree frogs.
ALSO, I would suggest getting them as tadpoles because they are cheaper, and less stress when they change enclosure. tadpoles are easier to take care of then fish.
One more thing, just keep in mind that if you get multiple frogs, crickets are expensive, and frogs will eat 2-4 crickets a day EACH! So if you’re getting more then 3 try breeding your own insects.
I have many health issues ever since i was young. I am allergic to tabbacoo smoke. My mom has been smoking in the hosue and in front and around me ever since i was a baby. I always said it hurts me when i breath it but she doesnt care. My dad does nothing about it. I cry in my room and my parents never support or comfort me. I want to buy healthy food and exersise but my mom says thats a waste of money, and that instead she wants to buy me tanning packages because she says i look so ugly with my white skin. She makes me feel worthless and sad and makes me cry all the time and my dad does nothing about it. I got abused from my ex boyfriend and i told my parents and they didnt even get mad. they just said oh well dont date. I always wanted a mother daughter bonding but she always leaves me and smokes. Its been this way since i was a little girl. They buy me every materialistic thing i want. But i want to better my health and she says no, and it hurts when she knows im allergic to smoke and still smokes in house. I feel depressed and trapped. Id have no where to go to move out. I dont drive , I have no friends. I really am a nice girl i care so much about everyone and never would want them to change themselves because everyone is perfect the way they are. but my mom always called me a fat horse then i went anorexic. then now she says my skin is so ugly and white . so i got addicted to tanning beds and spent thousands. now i want to stop all that and get healthy and be myself, and she is critisizing me and saying i need to tan and that healthy food is a waste of money.
